A Hyper-V host that runs quietly for a year can create a false sense of security. Underneath, there is a list of maintenance tasks that need to happen on a schedule, not just when something goes wrong. Here is what actually goes into managing a Hyper-V server once it is in production.

A Hyper-V host runs Windows Server, and each virtual machine on it runs its own guest operating system that needs its own patch cycle.
