On-Site IT Support for Greater Sudbury & Northern Ontario
Some things cannot be fixed by remote session. Nickel City Tech Solutions dispatches local technicians across Greater Sudbury and Northern Ontario for hands-on IT support: cabling, server work, network installs, office moves, and hardware repair on location.
Serving Greater Sudbury, Northern Ontario, and surrounding communities. Remote support available throughout Ontario.
Remote support resolves the majority of day-to-day IT tickets. On-site support handles the rest properly. A dead workstation that will not POST, a server that needs physical eyes on it, a new office that needs cabling and Wi-Fi installed, a printer that has to be re-terminated on the wall jack — none of that gets fixed over Teams. When you need someone on location, you need someone who is already in the region.
This service is part of our IT Support Sudbury cornerstone offering. On-site work pairs with remote IT support for reactive tickets and with managed IT services for planned project work, hardware refreshes, and preventive on-site visits.
The on-site work we handle most often
Structured cabling and network jack termination. Rack install, rack cleanup, and cable management. Hyper-V and Windows Server installations. Sophos and Meraki firewall deployment. Business Wi-Fi access point placement and survey. Office moves and new-office build-outs. Hardware replacement — workstations, laptops, printers, UPS units. Physical decommissioning of retired equipment.
Every visit starts with clear scope: what we are fixing or building, how long we expect it to take, and what needs to be true before we leave. If we uncover something outside the original scope, we tell you before doing the extra work — no surprise line items on the invoice.

Frequently asked questions
When do you send a technician on-site instead of resolving remotely?
Whenever the problem cannot be fixed with a remote session: physical hardware failure, cabling and network jack issues, new equipment installation, server or firewall replacement, office moves, printer or copier problems that require hands on the device, or environments where a user cannot get a device online for remote access. Remote support handles the majority of tickets; on-site handles the rest properly.
What area do you cover for on-site work?
Our primary on-site coverage is Greater Sudbury — Sudbury, Lively, Chelmsford, Hanmer, Valley East, Garson, Coniston, Azilda, Copper Cliff, Onaping — and surrounding communities. We also travel across Northern Ontario for scheduled projects and existing clients: North Bay, Parry Sound, Muskoka, Espanola, Elliot Lake, Manitoulin Island, Sturgeon Falls, Temiskaming Shores, and Sault Ste. Marie. Travel time is quoted transparently.
How quickly can you dispatch a technician?
Depends on scope, distance, and current workload. For Greater Sudbury emergencies during business hours we can often be on site the same day. Scheduled installs and project work are booked in advance so you get a firm date and time. We are honest about capacity — if we cannot meet the timeframe you need, we say so before you commit.
Do you handle cabling and network jack installation?
Yes. We install and terminate Cat6 runs, patch panels, wall jacks, rack cable management, fibre patch cabling, and mount switches, access points, and firewalls. For structured cabling projects larger than a few dozen drops we partner with certified cabling installers and coordinate the full scope so you deal with one point of contact.
Can you help with an office move or new office build-out?
Yes. Office moves and new builds are a major part of our on-site work. We plan the network layout, coordinate ISP install and firewall provisioning, decommission and re-rack equipment at the new location, re-cable and mount access points, and validate that every desk, printer, meeting room, and phone works before staff arrive Monday morning. See the case studies section for real examples.
Do you support server, firewall, and switch installations?
Yes. We install and configure Hyper-V hosts, Windows Server, Sophos and Meraki firewalls, managed switches, and business Wi-Fi access points. On-site work covers physical rack install, cabling, power protection, and initial provisioning; ongoing management is handled remotely under a managed IT agreement.
How is on-site work billed?
Ad-hoc on-site is billed hourly with a minimum, plus travel time for locations outside Greater Sudbury. Project work is scoped and quoted as a fixed price wherever possible. Managed IT clients receive on-site visits per their agreement — typically included for issues that cannot be resolved remotely, with project work quoted separately.
